Visiting a new church can be intimidating: What should I wear? |  Where do I park? | Where do my kids go?

We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to be at ease when you visit. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact us or visit the Resource Center inside the church foyer.

  • How do I get to ECW?

ECW church is located on the corner of Third and Lexington in El Cajon.

From I-8: Take the Second Street off ramp south. Continue approximately two miles and turn left on Lexington Avenue. When you come to the four way stop on Lexington and Third you will see the church on the left corner. Turn left and then turn right into the second driveway.

  • Where should I park?

There are two parking entrances on Third Street, one in front of the sanctuary and the other just north of the sanctuary. The one in front of the Sanctuary is handicap accessible and all spaces are designated for people who have needs which require them to have minimal walking. The main parking area is the center driveway on Third Street that is just north of the Sanctuary. There is also street parking available on both Third and Lexington.

  • What should I wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. In the summertime, it’s not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt. Others prefer to still put on their “Sunday best,” and that’s fine too! We think you’ll fit in no matter how you dress.

  • Where do my children go?

KidsJam is the perfect place for your children (Infant through 5th grade) to go while you attend service. If you would like your children to go to KidsJam, visit the Children’s Area (Room 13) located in the one story building just to the north of the sanctuary.

When you drop off your child, your child will be given a nametag and you will be given a corresponding placard that you will need to return in order to pick up your child. All of our staff and regular volunteers have been fingerprinted through the Department of Justice, and key leaders are CPR qualified. We also have an AED onsite.

  • Where should I sit in service?

There is no assigned seating. You may sit in any available spot. If you need assistance in finding a seat see someone with a nametag.

  • Am I expected to put money in the offering?

If you are visiting with us, we don’t expect you to put money in the offering. If you consider ECW your church home, we’d love for you to prayerfully consider giving to ECW. You can give by check or cash during the service, or you can set-up an online giving account.

  • I have hearing and/or visual problems. Is there any special assistance?

Please contact the office so that we can personally see how we can meet your needs.

  • What is a service like?

We strive to create environments where people are encouraged and equipped to pursue intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders. To achieve this we utilize a mix of live music,  media, prayer, and a relevant message. Communion is normally served the first Sunday of the month (with some variations) and all who are followers of Jesus are invited to participate. Our passion is to lead people in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

We understand that volume is perceived differently. One person’s sense of “loud” may not apply to the next person. That is simply who we are! Our experience tells us that we are not able to satisfy everyone’s perception of volume or  mix of audio. Nonetheless we strive to know the output of our audio systems. We also hold ourselves accountable to a safe environment for our ears. For any further questions or for more information, contact the church office at 619.440.4452.

  • What if I arrive late?

We know this can’t always be avoided – especially if you are new to the area. Simply come in any door and take a seat. See anyone with a name tag if you need assistance..
