Age. My friend and I are 66 and 70 years old and are very uncomfortable with loud music. Also we don’t find the new music as satisfying as the hymns and calmer music. We experienced church music that could be acapella, accompanied by a piano only or by an organ and piano. Technology was in it’s infant stages. Also choirs were more popular and was composed of people of all ages. We certainly enjoy churches that have orchestra’s. The new music seems to eliminate the number of people who can be involved in the churches music ministry. Music that is too loud can be harmful to our hearing as well to our well being in my opinion. Great question.

Hello Pastor,
I just listened to last weeks sermon.. Obeying God..(I am away right now)..Just wanted to thank you for “opening up” this great story…It has really encouraged me to be more trusting in “what He will do, as I choose to, and follow through in, obeying Him…it may not feel good, and the outcome that He intends may not come for awhile, but our faith will be rewarded..

You are absolutely right — it can only be accomplished through prayer, reading His word and obeying His Spirit. That keeps our hearts pure and on the things of Him. I’m blessed to read that you want this kind of heart — I pray for you today that you seek after Him in all things! Stay faithful!

Grace, we all need the reminder now and then. Our hearts can be easily deceived and impure. That is why I like to pray for this as well. That the Lord will keep my heart pure and tender for the things that are pleasing to Him! I don’t know about you, but a daily prayer and challenge for me!

“encouragement takes place when our love meets someone’s fear” I love this statement. Fear is a debilitating emotion that Satan uses against us…what greater way to combat him than showing up “in love!” God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind. Thank you for the reminder to actively listen, speak truth with kindness and grace, and to be encouraging with my love. You have encouraged me today!!
