Core Values

At ECW our Core Values shape and determine all that we accomplish as a church.

This is who we are,  and it is who you will become as you live out your Christian life with ECW Church.

1. Passionate Spirituality

Passionate spirituality is the realization that Jesus loves and accepts you despite how messed up you are. This spirituality grows when you allow Him to change your life for the better. You are excited about your relationship with Jesus and want to share your personal experiences with others.

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11 (NIV)

2. Powerful Prayer

Powerful prayer is talking to God and listening for His response. It is using your own words; it is continuously asking, accepting and doing what Jesus wants. When this happens, God’s power is released in your life, and it accomplishes more than you can imagine.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

3. Relevant Biblical Teaching

Relevant biblical teaching helps you make sense of the Bible so that you can discover God’s plan for your life and follow the directions He gives you. It affects what you believe, how you behave, and how you relate to God and others.
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22 (NIV)

4. Inspiring Worship

Inspiring worship is energizing and even fun. When you worship, you personally and collectively experience Christ who gives hope for your life and answers for the things you deal with in life.

“The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior!” Psalms 18:46 (NIV)

5. Loving Relationships

Loving relationships value multi-generational friendships that invite Christ and people to share life experiences in a safe environment which allow you to grow.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27 (NIV)

6. Strong Families

We value an environment which strengthens your family and where Christian values are taught, nurtured and lived out in everyday life. We support and equip all families.

“As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15b (NIV)

7. Empowering Leadership

Empowering leadership is leadership (both pastors and lay people) intentionally pouring their lives into others, as Jesus did with his disciples. ECW empowers leaders by giving them the freedom to be creative and the resources they need to lead.

“[Leaders’] responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:12 (NLT)

8. Gift-based Ministry

Gift-based ministry uses your unique personalities, abilities and spiritual gifts to make a difference in someone’s life for Christ.

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another…” 1 Peter 4:10A (ESV)

9. Cultural Evangelism

Cultural evangelism is meeting the needs of our community and world. The church meets those needs without expecting anything in return. This opens up an opportunity to share our faith in a non-threatening way. We love people the way Jesus loves them, unconditionally and without judging.

“Strengthen the hands that are feeble and the knees that are weak” Hebrews 12:12 (NLT)

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” Matthew 28:19 (NIV)

10. Effective Structures

Effective Structure is the playbook on how we do ministry. It tells us how to manage people and resources to accomplish our mission as a church and our spiritual growth as individuals.

“But be sure that everything is done properly and in order.” 1 Corinthians 14:40 (NLT)
